Don’t take the ferry unless you have to, says B.C. Ferries


B.C. Ferries is reminding people to avoid non-essential travel to support the battle against COVID-19.

“None of us should be travelling if it is not essential,” Mark Collins, B.C. Ferries chief executive, said Tuesday.

“Our front-line co-workers face the COVID-19 virus every day so that critical supplies like groceries and medical supplies, and people reach coastal communities,” he said.

B.C. Ferries says it has bolstered its health and safety measures, including carrying out extra cleaning and disinfecting, and encouraging passengers to remain in their vehicles on most decks.

It has closed overhead walkways to give walk-on passengers enough space to stay two metres apart from other passengers.
